Tips to Get Your Home Ready for the Holidays
Family coming to visit? No need to stress! We’ve compiled this list of some of the best tips to get your home ready for the holidays.
Use Zip Ties for Your Holiday Lights and Décor
Easy to use and simple to take down with the snip of a scissor, zip ties are a great way to string holiday lights on stair banisters and fences.
Touch Up Knicks and Scratches
If you have shallow surface scratches on furniture or wood flooring, use the stain-filled touch-up markers to quickly fill them in. Dab a little on the scratch and wipe off the excess. Just be careful not to go to dark or apply too much stain since the markers can dry darker than applied.
Make Odors Disappear with Baking Soda
If you have pets or other odors in your home, you’ll want to sprinkle some baking soda on your carpets and vacuum it up to help absorb those unwanted smells. Baking soda also works great to combat odors inside your refrigerator, on mattresses and furniture.
Make Ice for Your Guests
If you plan on having a holiday dinner or party at your home, prepare to serve lots of drinks by making extra ice ahead of time. Keep an extra bag or bucket of ice in your freezer.
Make Room in the Fridge
You’ll need the extra room for all your holiday meal preparations and leftovers. Toss out any old food, extra jars, and old containers.
Prepare for Your Houseguests
Make your guests feel welcome by cleaning the guest room. Have plenty of clean towels, toiletries, pillows and blankets on hand to make them feel at home.
