Home Maintenance Tips to do this Spring
With the temperatures beginning to rise, it’s a great time to start some home maintenance around the house. If you’re thinking about listing your home for sale this summer, making some needed repairs and home improvements will definitely put you at an advantage. We’ve created this list of some Home Maintenance Tops to do this Spring now that winter is in the rear-view mirror.
#1 – Patch up Bare Spots in Your Lawn
Bare patches can make a healthy lawn look undesirable. They will also cause issues with mud and standing water once spring rain arrives. You can reseed bare patches or for an instant fix, fill in spots with sod.
# 2 – Inspect your Roof and Clean the Gutters
There’s no need to go up on the roof but if you have a pair of binoculars, check for early signs of roof damage that includes loose or curling shingles and damaged gutters. Remove leaves and debris from your gutters to help the system handle any upcoming spring showers.
#3 – Clean the AC Condensor
That big metal box outside of your home is your AC condensor and works more effeciently when clean and serviced. Spray the outside of the condensor with water and use a brush if you need to remove any additional dirt. You can always call an AC company to come out and service the unit for under $250.
#4 – Clean and Repair your Deck
Extreme temperatures may have been hard on your deck. You should clean your deck of debris and dirt and look for any spots of rot or needed repair. Once you have cleaned and fixed the deck, consider a deck sealer after reappling any fresh stain to the area.
#5 – Prep your Garden for the Spring
The spring is a great time to start bringing your yard back to life, before the temperature gets too hot. Remove weeds and dead plants that did not survive the winter. Plant new annuals and prune any existing plants. Consider also putting down a new layer of mulch to retain moisture and help prevent future weed growth.
