Granite Shoals is located in the Texas Hill Country with a population of more than 5,000. It’s about 45 minutes northwest of Austin and minutes from Marble Falls on the east shore of Lake LBJ. The city was incorporated as a city in 1966 and took its name from the granite shoals – shallow areas in the water due to granite outcroppings – that were evident on the Colorado River before the construction of Wirtz Dam and Lake Granite Shoals (later renamed Lake Lyndon B. Johnson). Today, Granite Shoals has some of the best water frontage Lake LBJ has to offer.
