We have to start off this list with Austin’s Trail of Lights. It’s the city’s largest holiday tradition and the city’s second largest event that starts December 10th and runs through December 23rd. With more than 40 displays, 2 million lights, food trucks, entertainment and holiday activities, it is the place to be during the holiday season.
Drawing more than 750,000 visitors annually, Christmas in the Square in Frisco is called the “largest choreographed lights and music show in North Texas.” With snow machines creating flurries every 15 minutes, visitors enjoy walking in a winter wonderland no matter what the weather calls for outside. Free to the public, the lights and music run daily from 6 to 10pm daily from November 29th through December 31st.
As one of San Antonio’s most popular attractions, The River Walk turns on the holiday lights right after Thanksgiving through January 13th. With more than 100,000 lights draped over towering cypress trees that line the River Walk, this festive experience is really a sight to see for young and old.
The Houston Zoo is transformed into a winter wonderland with the Zoo Lights from November 23rd through January 12th. Enjoy fifteen miles of twinkling light displays under ancient oak trees, a giant Holiday Tree display, an interactive talking zebra, and of course, animals!
Moody Gardens in Galveston has a wonderful holiday adventure offering multiple attractions, activities, dining and hotel packages. 2019 offers a new theme as well – Ice Land: Christmas Around the World! They have taken 2 million pounds of ice to create a festive journey to showcase travel from Russia and Egypt to China and beyond.
This annual event at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth is as big as Texas. Beginning November 28th and running through January 5th, the Speedway opens its gates to the public for a two-mile drive through that features more than 200 lighted displays. This year also features Santa’s Village where lucky visitors can drinking hot cocoa and meet Santa himself.
Santa’s Wonderland in College Station is truly a Texas Christmas experience running from November 8th through December 30th. From hayride tours, carriage rides, visits with Santa, live music and much more, there’s something for everyone at this annual event. There’s even Frostbite’s Mountain and Snow Playground offering visitors a chance to play in SNOW!
Drive through more than a mile of winding country roads while admiring an array of holiday lights and fun Christmas decorations, all while enjoying homemade hot cocoa, kettle corn and snacks. The ranch opens November 8th and runs through January 4th and takes about 30 minutes to complete.
